The Launch Event for the UK Design for AM Network

The EPSRC-funded UK Design for AM Network (www.designforam.ac.uk) has been formally launched on November 6th 2020.

Over 80 participants attended the online event from over 50 universities and institutions across the UK to discuss and get inspiration for the future of Design for AM research. The participants represented both academic and non-academic communities working in different areas of Design for AM research.

The event was kicked-off by a warm welcome from Loughborough University pro-vice-chancellor for Enterprise, Prof Tracy Bhamra.
Then the morning session was opened by Olaf Diegel (University of Auckland), followed by Andrew Triantaphyllou (National Centre for AM), Alan Howard (IET), and Charles Jones (Autodesk). Their presentations provided an overview of Design for AM research and its relevance for the UK. In particular, Prof Olaf Diegel provided an international overview of Design for AM research.

In the afternoon session, the presentations of Rebecca Cheesbrough (EPSRC), Pat Warner (Renault F1), and Robert Kay (University of Leeds) provided the background of how the network can support the development of Design for AM research.
